Ms Avtar Ranee Kaur Purain was admitted as an Advocate & Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Singapore in 1981. She chambered and practiced with the law firm of Braddell Brothers/Shook Lin & Bok.

Subsequently, Ms Ranee obtained her Masters in Law (Land Law) from the National University of Singapore. Ms Ranee was employed by the New India Insurance Company as a Legal Officer before joining the Housing and Development Board (HDB) as an Executive Legal Officer, where she served and honed her craft in conveyancing matters for 9 years.

In 1991, Ms Ranee ventured into academia. She served as a part-time Lecturer with the National University of Singapore, the Singapore Institute of Purchasing & Materials Management, and the Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Ms Ranee is a partner of Darshan & Teo LLP.

Ms Ranee's practice mainly comprises conveyancing, landlord and tenant agreements, family law, wills and probate, and the administration of estates.
